Safedrive is launching Norway's best, safest and most important reward program for safe driving. "We want to reward drivers for driving within the speed limits. We believe that a carrot rather than a stick can create major and important changes in traffic," says founder and CEO of Safedrive, Magnus Wester.

Safedrive Reward is a reward program that rewards good behavior on the road.

- We know that inattention and high speed are the main reasons why lives are lost on Norwegian roads. One life lost in traffic is one life too many," says Ketil Solvik-Olsen, chairman of Safedrive and former Norwegian Minister of Transport and Communications.

Safedrive is an alert service that has now been installed in well over 100,000 vehicles - and is used by almost 200,000 users. The service is based on users notifying about obstacles in the roadway, animals and speed controls. The device also alerts about speed cameras and distance measurements.

The company has been criticized for its fine guarantee, whereby the company has paid the fines of those caught speeding that the company has not notified. The fine guarantee is now history, and it has been announced that it will be removed as of August 15. It will be replaced by the Safedrive Reward program, which offers several discounts and benefits for Safedrive users, as well as a competition with large cash prizes.

- With Safedrive Reward, we're turning the mindset around speed upside down. Rather than believing in sticks, we believe that carrots create greater change. We now want to reward those drivers who drive according to the speed limits and thus contribute to creating safer journeys and roads for both themselves and the community in traffic," says Wester.

One million reasons to keep the speed limit

To participate in Safedrive Reward, you must sign up for the competition. Safedrive Reward will, for those who agree to it, measure driving via the device installed in the vehicle. Here, all violations and compliance with speed limits will be registered. Those who adhere to the speed limits will collect points and participate in prize draws.

On "My page" you can follow your driving profile at any time. NB! Safedrive Reward is in beta phase. The ability to follow your own driving profile will therefore be launched in the fall. In the meantime, make sure you keep track of all the draws on My page.

Safedrive will hold weekly draws where we will award NOK 10,000 to a well-deserving winner among our users. Only those who have complied with the speed limits will be allowed to participate in the draw," says Wester.

- But, we also want to help create change in those who may not be able to get to green one week. The device in the car gives the driver continuous feedback on whether the speed is correct. Through the data we collect, we will be able to tell the driver exactly where they should be extra careful - for example, they may break the speed limit more often in 80 km/h zones than otherwise. We call this a driving profile, which the user will be able to check at any time on My page.

"By giving the driver specific feedback, you can make them more aware of their own driving, which in turn can contribute to real change," says the Safedrive entrepreneur.

- With Safedrive Reward, there are over a million reasons to improve your driving and stick to the speed limits," adds chairman Ketil Solvik-Olsen.

The driving profile is retrieved directly from the device - indicating whether the speed is correct at all times!

For those who might be wondering, there's no need to worry that a moment's inattention will ruin your chances of winning.

- This is about the overall driving pattern over time. We need to take into account any weaknesses, especially now that Safedrive Reward is still under development. This could be incorrect data we receive from the National Road Database, or areas where the device may lose signal for a few seconds. We don't want our customers to suffer from this, which is why we've built in some safety margins. Our overall goal is of course to make our users the safest drivers on the road, but a moment of inattention won't ruin the chances of winning after weeks of good behavior. We will learn a lot from the run-in," Wester points out.

In addition to the weekly draws, Safedrive plans annual super draws with a prize pool of one million kroner.

- This competition has more winners than just those who win money. "This could be a game changer for road safety work, which could give us more attentive and responsible drivers. Hopefully we can reduce the number of accidents with serious injuries and fatalities," concludes Solvik-Olsen.
