A plowing job in Hol municipality took an unexpected turn when the phone call from Safedrive came in. Leif Johnny Nestegard had won 100,000 kroner – and quickly decided to give the same amount to Hol Sports Club.

As the monthly winner of the Safedrive Reward for December, Leif Johnny Nestegard received 100,000 kroner – and chose to give the same amount to Hol sports club through the Tryggve Fund.

Had to stop plowing

When the phone call from Safedrive came, he was out plowing. The message made such an impression that he had to stop working.

– I had to stop plowing because I was shaking so much. And I have to admit that I shed a tear afterwards, says Nestegard.

As this month's Reward winner, you not only get a prize yourself. You also get the opportunity to donate just as much to local, socially beneficial causes. For Nestegard, the choice was easy.

– As soon as they said I had the opportunity to give away 100,000 kroner, I knew who to choose, he says.

A simple choice

The choice fell on Hol sports club. The sports club has around 830 members and is run largely by volunteers. The goal is to facilitate activities for everyone and create good meeting places for children and young people in the local community. The sports club does everything they can to ensure that finances are not an obstacle to participation.

The money was received by Bjørnar Tvedt Jordheim, who is the leader of Hol sports club.

– Such an award means a lot to Hol sports club, says Jordheim.

The sports team has no training fee for the kids, just a symbolic membership fee for anyone who wants to be a member.

– Getting a sum like this means we can continue with what we do.

The money will benefit both children and adults in the sports team.

Bjørnar Tvedt Jordheim, manager of Hol sports club, received a check for 100,000 kroner from the Tryggve Fund.

Meaningful for the local environment

Hol municipality is a small municipality with around 4,500 inhabitants.

– There are many memberships for 100,000 kroner, smiles Petter Rukke (Labour Party), head of culture and upbringing in the municipality.

The sports team is based on great activity for children and young people, who also travel a lot in traffic.

– Focus a little on it to and from training, regardless of the event. Think about traffic safety when you drive, so that we can carry out the training we have, concludes Jordheim.
