As the winner of this month's Safedrive Reward, Henning Flatjord from Sunnfjord was surprised with both a cash prize and the opportunity to give back. Now the Stardalen Rural Business Association is receiving NOK 100,000 in support from the Tryggve Fund.

Safedrive Reward winner Henning chose to give the Tryggvefondet support to the Bygdenæringsdagane in Stardalen – an annual event that creates meeting places, which has long had a desire to create activity in empty buildings in the village.

Through Safedrive Reward, we select one driver with a green driving profile every month. In September, Henning was selected as the monthly winner, and received NOK 100,000 in prize money. At the same time, he got to help decide which local community benefit project would receive NOK 100,000 from the Tryggve Foundation.

– What I appreciate most about Safedrive is the obstacle detection feature. Especially at this time of year, when it gets dark at 3-4 am, says Henning, who uses Safedrive daily in his job.

Safe driving will benefit the local community

Henning chose to give the Tryggvefondet support to the Rural Industries Days in Stardalen – an annual event that creates meeting places, collaboration and engagement in the village.

Stardalen, known as “the village under the glacier”, is located in Sunnfjord municipality. Here, committed forces in the village have long had a desire to create activity in empty buildings, and support from the Tryggvefondet makes this possible.

– We have had plans to create life and activity in buildings that already stand in Stardalen. This gives us a kickstart, says Andrè Heggheim from Bygdenæringsdagane.

Mayor Jenny Følling (Sp) is confident that this will go down well, and congratulates the winners.

– I have been to the Rural Economy Days several times, she says. – There is a spirit of volunteerism that many rural associations envy.

Knut Ove Børseth, Head of Sustainability and Society at Safedrive, thanks Henning for his efforts and congratulates the winners.

– Together we make traffic safer and society a little warmer.
