- This is an agreement we have long dreamed of establishing, and we are very much looking forward to collaborating with the Solberg family in 2024.

This is what Magnus Wester, CEO of Safedrive, says about the recent news.

Throughout 2024, Team Solberg will promote Safedrive and be an crucial part of the work to promote positive attitudes towards speed in traffic. This collaboration is just one of several societal initiatives Safedrive actively engages in.

- We strongly believe that good collaborations with relevant role models have the necessary influence required to foster positive attitudes in the traffic landscape. Therefore, we see tremendous value in the collaboration with the Solberg family, Wester says.

Important role models

Safedrive is an active participant in initiatives for safer traffic and communities, including as a national DRIVE partner. DRIVE is a non-profit organization that promotes safer communities by providing positive drive and inspiration to children and youth who need it most. Based on DNV's calculations, Safedrive's support has added a societal benefit of more than NOK 7 million.

Chairman Ketil Solvik-Olsen and CEO of Safedrive, Magnus Wester, were very pleased to be named the 'National Partner of the Year.' In addition, Safedrive received the tangible proof of its societal contribution in the form of a social utility certificate.

Wester hopes that the Solberg family will be seen at selected events organized by DRIVE in 2024, alongside Safedrive.

- Oliver, Petter, and Pernilla are a busy family with many travel days throughout the year. Nevertheless, we hope that an opportunity may arise for them to join us at selected events and activities – especially through our partnership with DRIVE.

- Here they will have the opportunity to meet and reach out to many children and youth while becoming part of a closer dialogue with the target groups highly represented in the accident statistics along Norwegian roads. We believe this is some of the most important work that can be done to create safer roads.

Despite his young age, Oliver Solberg has become a well-established rally driver. For Safedrive, he will be an important role model for children and youth in traffic. Photo: Team Solberg.

Motorsport in the blood

For many people, the name Solberg is synonymous with rally. Dad Petter is one of rallying's greatest legends, and mum Pernilla is a former rally driver and now manager and organizer of Team Solberg. Oliver Solberg is now carrying on the legacy and aims to compete for the WRC 2 class rally title in 2024, as part of Å koda's motorsport division.

Despite his young age, Oliver has been competing in the rally circuit for several years. His debut came in the Latvian Rally Championship in 2017, at the age of fifteen. In Latvia, Oliver obtained a license to compete in both rally and rallycross, securing two victories. Since then, the young driver has experienced a series of successes with numerous wins and podium finishes.

Oliver explains that rally is a highly demanding sport, where the co-driver plays a crucial role. He sees the similarity with Safedrive as an aid for drivers on the road.

- In the rally car, things happen quickly – and the margins are often small. So it's essential that we use all the aids and driver support systems available. One of the most important elements in the rally car is in fact, the co-driver, who keeps me updated and informed. Out on the road, Safedrive operates similarly – providing information about what awaits around the next turn, says the young rally driver.

Magnus Wester emphasizes that few have as much respect for speed as those who have speed and motors as a part of their everyday life.

– To work towards creating safer roads is not necessarily the opposite of speed and passion. We believe it is more important to facilitate, ensuring that the pursuit of action and adrenaline occurs in safe environments – and never along the roads.

– This is a message the Solberg family will be a part of conveying, Wester concludes.
