For several years, Namdal Taxi experienced a number of vehicle damages as a result of wildlife collisions. After the company installed Safedrive Pro in their vehicles, they have a completely new everyday life.

Roy Evensen-Stangvik and Namdal Taxi are very satisfied with Safedrive.

- We were suffering quite a lot of damage due to wildlife collisions. Then I got a tip that we needed to install Safedrive Pro in our vehicles.

This is according to Roy Evensen-Stangvik of Namdal Taxi.

- I didn't believe in this at first. There was the old-fashioned perception that Safedrive is just a radar detector. We had an average of ten to fifteen wildlife collisions a year. After installing Safedrive in our vehicles, we've had two wildlife collisions – in one and a half years. So, it's safe to say that this is a fantastic product, says Evensen-Stangvik.

Should have done it earlier

According to Statistics Norway, more than 9,000 deer were hit by vehicles between 2022 and 2023. Trøndelag is among the counties with the highest number of wildlife collisions, and in the northern part of the county where Namdal Taxi is located, the number of wildlife collisions has surged by a whopping 55 percent in the last couple of years, as stated by Gjensidige in a press release.

Roy Evensen-Stangvik shares that Namdal Taxi wishes they had installed Safedrive Pro in their vehicles earlier.

- I regret that we didn't do it years ago. There are many times when you come around a curve and the road is blocked by wildlife. If we didn't have Safedrive Pro, we would either have had to drive into the ditch or collide with the animals. A moose can quickly become very large, and if you get it over the hood it's not ideal!

- And likewise there are instances where stones have slid onto the road. If it hadn't been for Safedrive, we would have driven straight into the rocks. That's for sure.

Effective alerts

Roy Evensen-Stangvik is pleasantly surprised at how effective Safedrive's hazard warning system is, and emphasizes how the community can collectively enhance the services.

- I'm amazed at how quickly we receive alerts about obstacles and animals. If there is an obstacle in the road or if we see wildlife along the road, we always tap the screen in order to alert others.

- It's crucial that everyone with these devices does this - it only makes the product even better, he encourages.
