Vigra IL wants to make it easier and more affordable for local residents to stay active. Now the sports team is receiving 100,000 kroner from the Tryggve Fund to establish a new training facility on the island outside Ålesund.
The award was presented by Odd Eirik Øyen, who was selected as the monthly winner of the Safedrive Reward in May. As the winner, he received 100,000 kroner himself, in addition to the opportunity to donate a similar amount to a local, socially beneficial cause.
Odd Eirik chose to give the money to Vigra IL.
– It's absolutely fantastic from both Safedrive and Odd Eirik. It's a fantastic gift and a huge motivation for us volunteers, says Bjarne Sandøy from Vigra IL.
The money will go towards the gym on the top floor of the new activity building. Sandøy believes it will benefit the islanders.
– There will be even more violent fluctuations in the future.

Odd Eirik had no doubt about who he wanted to support.
– I live on the island and my daughter plays in Vigra IL. So it was natural that they should get the money, when 100,000 was to be distributed to a club or organization, he says.
Odd Eirik has been involved in Safedrive Reward since the beginning, but was still a bit taken aback when the phone call came.
– It was a bit of a surprise. I haven't followed the draws, so it was a bit of a shock when they called, he says.
Safedrive Reward rewards drivers who drive safely. At the same time, monthly winners have the opportunity to donate NOK 100,000 to a local team or association that has signed up for the Tryggve Fund.
This is how Vigra IL received support for the new training room, after Odd Eirik chose them.
Do you have a project that can make a difference in the local community? Teams and associations can sign up for the Tryggve Fund and have the opportunity to be chosen by a future Reward winner.
