Molly Pettit is a prominent figure in the motoring and motorsport community in Norway, known primarily as a professional motorsport athlete. In recent years, she has featured on TV as a motorsport reporter for WRC and as a presenter on NRK and Viasat 4. We joined Molly for a test of Safedrive Pro!

Molly Pettit tests the Safedrive Pro traffic alarm.

- Safedrive has quickly become the largest community along Norwegian roads. More than 100,000 people use Safedrive every day, whether in their car, truck or motorcycle. With Safedrive, we can keep each other safe by sharing information about hazards, obstacles and incidents in traffic.

That's what Molly Pettit tells us as she takes us into the car to test Safedrive Pro.

- Some have expressed skepticism about this, because it also warns about controls and speed cameras. This is probably because some believe that such alerts result in more people driving over the speed limit - but Safedrive's customers experience the exact opposite. They become more aware of their own speed and and feel greater safety and control in traffic with Safedrive installed in the car.

Easy installation and activation

Safedrive Pro is very easy to install, as Molly easily demonstrates in the video.

- There are two different car mounts. One is an adhesive mount, where you just peel off the top layer and place it wherever you want. The other comes with a clip that you can easily attach to the air intake, for example. The device has a magnet on the back, making it easy to attatch.

- A cable is included for the Safedrive device, which you can either connect via USB in the car or via a 12V adapter. Afterward, simply plug in the cable to activate the device!

As Molly explains in the video, it may take some time for the device to connect to the satellites the first time the device is powered - but rarely more than two minutes. You will receive on-screen instructions on how to activate the license.

- You send an SMS containing the ID number of your device and will then be given the choice of paying by mobile bill or by credit card. It's worth mentioning that the license has no binding period whatsoever, and you can cancel at any time, says Molly.

New updates

- I've had Safedrive for a good while now, and what's exciting is that the device constantly receives new updates, updating automatically over the internet. This means that at any time, I can experience having entirely new features that I didn't have the day before, Molly tells us.

During the drive, we update the device with the latest software.

- The latest update gives me access to an entirely new dashboard, which shows me the current speed limit and my own speed at all times. The speed limits are retrieved from the National Road Database of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, and it's very handy on unfamiliar roads!

- Safedrive has also added colors to the speedometer, providing direct feedback if I am exceeding the speed limit. This is called ISA - Intelligent Speed Assistance, and will increase awareness of one's own speed for over 100,000 drivers, she continues.

A very useful tool

Features that Safedrive users are already familiar with, such as animal warnings, obstacle warnings, controls and speed cameras, are, of course, still included. You also get an accurate measurement of your average speed in automatic traffic controls, using the GPS in the device.

Molly is clear about why Safedrive Pro is very useful to have in the car.

- The device is very easy to use, and with just a couple of taps you can register an incident on the road. Many have probably experienced near-accidents without the ability to warn oncoming traffic and those coming after you.

- This traffic alarm solves this in seconds, and is probably the main reason why Safedrive has become such a large community that stands together and looks out for each other, Molly concludes.
